Harmonic Scent is a CD of electroacoustic music; the tracks range from its various subgenres that have characterized it since its inception. The disc in fact contains influences of concrete music, based on recorded sounds, and of electronic music based on synthesis sounds. The first was born from the recording on magnetic tape, by Pierre Schaeffer and his Groupe des Recherches Musicales; the second, which saw Karlheinz Stockhausen as a prominent compositional figure, derives from the very first experiments in sound synthesis.
Harmonic Scent is a hybrid of all of this. The author, in his compositions, uses the most modern techniques of sound synthesis, deriving from the programming and use of digital instruments, but he also uses recordings of musical instruments and ambient sounds from its recording archive. The CD contains also an example (track #4) of the use of the space as a compositional parameter, characterized by a spatialization in Ambisonic format thanks to which it is possible to manage the audio three-dimensionally.
